CELEBRATION OF BEATIFICATION
The solemn and unique celebration of the Beatification of Martyr Devasahayam was held in the Diocese of Kottar, at Carmel School Campus, Nagercoil on Sunday, 2nd December 2012, presided over by the Papal Legate, His Eminence Angelo Cardinal Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for Saints. This campus accommodated nearly 400,000 people.
35 Archbishops, Bishops, 4 Cardinals, His Eminence Angelo Cardinal Amato, the Prefect, His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias, Archbishop of Mumbai, His Eminence Thelesphore Cardinal Toppo, President of CCBI, and His Eminence Cardinal Cleemis, the Major Archbishop of Trivandrum of Malankara rite, and the Apostolic Nuncio His Grace Salvatore Pennacchio were present for the celebration.
His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias read out a brief history of the Servant of God. The great moment of the reading out of the Apostolic Letter of the Pope Benedict XVI followed, with which the Supreme Pontiff inscribed the venerable Servant of God, Devasahayam in the list of the Blessed.
